Candidates are nominated

WEST CHESTER Candidates for the 2015 municipal election were nominated in Chester County last week by both major parties.

The Republican and Democratic committees said they were energized for the May 19 primary.

Tom Purl was nominated for district attorney by the Chester County Democratic Committee to run against incumbent Republican Thomas P. Hogan.

The county commissioners, Republicans Michelle Kichline and Terence Farrell and Democrat Kathi Cozzone, were all nominated again. The Democrats also endorsed commissioner candidate Bill Scott.

Republican Allison Bell Royer and Democrat Julia Malloy-Good were endorsed by their parties for the open County Court judicial seat.

Veteran District Judge Daniel Maisano said Monday he plans to challenge them and will run on both the Republican and Democratic ballots.

Republicans endorsed Sheriff Carolyn Bunny Welsh. The Democrats did not endorse a candidate for sheriff Thursday but plan to soon, said Brian McGinnis, Democratic committee chairman.

Also endorsed were Republican Terri Clark and Democrat Lani Frank for register of wills; Republican Rick Loughery and Democrat Hans von Mol for recorder of deeds; and Republican Matt Holliday and Democrat Tisha Brown for prothonotary. - Justine McDaniel
