Pennsylvania Turnpike commissioner Sean Logan, a Democrat from Allegheny County, was promoted to chairman of the five-member turnpike commission Wednesday.

His predecessor, Republican businessman William K. Lieberman, of Pittsburgh, became vice-chairman as the commission reorganized following the election of Democratic governor Tom Wolf.

Logan, a former state senator, was appointed to the turnpike commission in 2013 by then-governor Tom Corbett. He is president of the Monroeville Area Chamber of Commerce and executive director of Visit Monroeville.

Newly appointed state Transportation Secretary Leslie Richards, of Montgomery County, also took her place on the commission Wednesday.

The commissioners, except Richards, are paid $26,000 a year, and the chairman is paid an additional $2,500 a year.
