Elderly pedestrian in critical after Cheltenham Twp. crash

An elderly Philadelphia man was critically injured when he was struck by a car while trying to cross a street in Cheltenham Township.

An elderly Philadelphia man was critically injured when he was struck by a car while trying to cross a street in Cheltenham Township.

Police said 87-year-old Warren Scott was hit when he tried to cross Ogontz Avenue near the Cheltenham Square Mall shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The East Germantown resident was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.

The driver, a woman who was traveling south on Ogontz Avenue, stopped immediately and called 911 to report the accident, police said.

Officials said the driver, whose name was not released, is cooperating with investigators.

The accident remains under investigation. Any witnesses are asked to call police at 215-885-1600, ext. 476.
