A prisoner who escaped from a jail at a police station in North Philadelphia on Thursday surrendered to police Friday evening, the man's attorney said.

Felix Gonzalez, 21, of Kensington, who was arrested Wednesday on drug charges, turned himself in about 6 at the 25th District, said attorney Doug Dolfman.

About 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Gonzalez, of the 3300 block of Kip Street, switched armbands with another prisoner and escaped from the 25th District, where he was being held on $50,000 bail, police said. The other prisoner had been scheduled to be released on his own recognizance, police said.

Dolfman described the escape as a "mix-up." Police "just basically let him walk out of the place," Dolfman said.

Police said Gonzalez was arrested Wednesday and charged with drug possession with intent to deliver and related offenses.
