Check presentation today for Downingtown facilities

State Sen. Andrew E. Dinniman (D., Chester) announced that he will present a $500,000 check today to officials involved in the construction of a combined Downingtown Library and Downingtown Area Senior Center.

The $3.5 million project involves renovating a building at the old Sonoco Paper Factory near Route 322 and Boot Road. The project will create a 20,000-square-foot library and senior center, part of a 76-acre residential and commercial development called River Station, Dinniman said in a news release yesterday.

The development will feature residential units as well as retail, restaurant and other business opportunities, the release said. The remaining money for the project will come from private donations and other sources.
