2 men shot, one fatally, at Mt. Laurel Marriott

Police were searching yesterday for the man who shot two brothers, one fatally, in the parking lot of the Marriott Hotel on Route 73 in Mount Laurel on Saturday night.

Police were searching yesterday for the man who shot two brothers, one fatally, in the parking lot of the Marriott Hotel on Route 73 in Mount Laurel on Saturday night.

The brothers, Gabriel Figueroa, 20, and Luis Pedroza, 26, both of Camden, had checked in to the hotel earlier that evening and were heading out when the shooting began.

Figueroa was dead at the scene after being shot more than once, said Joel Bewley, spokesman for the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office. Pedroza, who was hit in an arm near the shoulder, was in stable condition yesterday at Cooper University Hospital in Camden.

The shooting happened shortly after 10 p.m. in front of the 10-story hotel, which opened as a Hilton in 1972. Manager Kate Bromley said there had been no other serious incidents at the 281-room hotel before this. Hotel security notified police.

Bewley said the gunman fled into woods. Police are still seeking a motive. An autopsy was planned.
