Snow, cold move into Philadelphia region

Snow - and cold - arrived this morning in Philadelphia.

Flurries or light snow were reported across the region, from Doylestown to Philadelphia to Cherry Hill. Some areas saw the white stuff only briefly, and the snow largely wasn't sticking to the ground.

Other places in the area saw only rain or mixed precipitation.

The National Weather Service said just trace amounts of snow fell in most of southeastern Pennsylvania, South Jersey and Delaware. Small amounts of measurable snow were recorded in a few spots, including 0.1 inch in Newtown, Bucks County; 0.2 inch in Alburtis, Lehigh County; and similar measurements in parts of central New Jersey.

Earlier, light snow fell in the Poconos and central Pennsylvania as a cold front moved south from Canada toward the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.

No further precipitation is expected in the area today. But forecasters say to expect a cold afternoon and evening, with a high of 40 degrees and gusty winds.

Overnight, the low temperature in Philadelphia is expected to drop to around 27 degrees.

Wednesday is also slated to be chilly, with a forecasted high of 43 degrees.
