Motorcyclist killed in Glouco crash

A motorcyclist was killed in a Gloucester County crash this morning.

New Jersey State Police said the crash on state Route 55 in Elk Township happened at about 9:10 a.m., when the motorcycle veered off the roadway.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident, which happened in the southbound lanes near exit 48, police said.

Southbound lanes near the crash site were closed for several hours while police investigated, and vehicles were detoured off the highway, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Police said shortly after noon that the lanes had reopened.

The circumstances of the crash are under investigation.
