Families displaced after 5 homes catch fire in Delco

Several families are displaced after a three-alarm blaze spread to five homes in Delaware County -- just days before Thanksgiving.

The fire at the homes on the 1500 block of Roosevelt Drive in Darby Township was reported at about 9:50 a.m., a dispatcher said. It was placed under control about 12:20 p.m.

At least nine people from five homes are displaced from the blaze, according to the Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania, which is assisting the families. The organization said it hasn't been able to reach one family affected, so even more people are likely displaced.

A few emergency responders suffered minor injuries while battling the blaze, according to the dispatcher.

The cause of the fire and the extent of damage to the homes wasn't immediately known.
