Former CBS3 anchor Alycia Lane has been hired as a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter for KNBC in Los Angeles, the station announced in a press release.

She begins her new job Aug. 19, the press release said. The announcement acknowledges her work with CBS3, but makes no mention of her high-profile firing or her legal entanglements.

CBS3 fired Lane in January 2008 while she awaited trial in New York on charges of assaulting a police officer, for which she was later exonerated. Lane later sued CBS3 for defamation and invasion of privacy, and also filed suits against the Philadelphia Daily News, columnist Dan Gross, and her former co-anchor Larry Mendte.

Mendte spent six months on house arrest after pleading guilty in federal court to illegally accessing Lane's private e-mails and passing along information obtained therein to various media outlets.

Lane has not worked since being fired by CBS3. Last month she moved to Los Angeles to be with boyfriend Chris Booker, who in June started hosting afternoons at radio station KAMP. Booker worked in Philadelphia at Q102 when he met Lane, whom he started dating in Fall 2007.

"Alycia is an experienced anchor and skilled reporter who has a tremendous ability to engage and connect with the audience," KNBC President/General Manager Craig Robinson said in a press release. "Her energy and talent will be great assets to KNBC, and we look forward to her contributions to our newsroom."
