This time adding a saxophone to his ensemble, Eagles’ center Jason Kelce on Sunday again donned the Mummers costume that helped make him a social media sensation during the team’s Super Bowl Championship parade earlier this month.

The event: the 5th Annual Mummers Mardi Gras Parade. The venue: Main Street in Manayunk.

A total of 16 string bands entertained crowds that filled sidewalks along the route despite dreary, damp conditions. Kelce marched and played with Avalon String Bands, resplendent in the green-and-magenta sequined outfit from Avalon’s 2008 New Year’s Day “Ire-Land of Leprechauns” performance that he donned Feb. 8 for the nearly 5-mile victory parade through South Philadelphia and Center City. This time he gave no profanity-laced speeches. His lips were busy on his saxophone’s mouthpiece.

The Mardi Gras parade is part celebration/part fund-raiser. The Mummers have raised $75,000 since the inaugural one in 2014.
