Double shooting in Fairhill leaves man dead

A 24-year-old man was killed and a 14-year-old boy was injured in a double shooting Tuesday night in the city's Fairhill section.

The victims were in a red Mercury sedan stopped at a red light on Lehigh Avenue at Front Street about 8:10 p.m. when a male from a car behind them got out and started shooting into the driver-side window, said Chief Inspector Scott Small. The Mercury fled the scene and crashed into the front gate at the Episcopal Campus of Temple University Hospital.

Kymani Roane, of the 2900 block of West Montgomery Avenue, was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said. The 14-year-old boy was transferred to Temple University Hospital,  and was listed in critical condition. A 16-year-old boy in the backseat of the Mercury was not injured and was taken to be questioned by homicide detectives.

The shooter returned to his dark-colored vehicle and was last seen heading north on Front.
