Police investigating possible sex assault at Frankford High

The Philadelphia Police Department's Special Victims Unit is investigating reports of a sexual assault Wednesday morning at Frankford High School.

Police and the Philadelphia School District provided no details on what allegedly occurred at the school on the 5000 block of Oxford Avenue in the city's Frankford section.

In a statement, police said that no one had been arrested but that "all parties involved" had been identified and would be interviewed by SVU investigators.

School District spokesman Lee Whack did not respond to a phone message seeking comment, but sent this statement via email:

"The safety of our students is our number one priority. Assault of any kind in our schools is unacceptable, and will not be tolerated. The School Police took immediate action on this matter and are working in cooperation with the Philadelphia Police Department."

A message left for Frankford High principal Michael J. Calderone was not immediately returned.
