Man shot dead in North Philly; another slaying victim ID'd

An 18-year-old man named Jahmir Simmons was killed early Tuesday, police said. Police also ID'd Monday's fatal shooting victim as Robert Greene.

A man was fatally wounded on a North Philadelphia street early Tuesday, police said. 

The shooting happened about 2:10 a.m. on the 3500 block of North Warnock Street.

Jahmir Simmons, 18, was shot once in the back of his head and was rushed by medics to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:35 a.m.

Police on Tuesday also identified a man who was shot dead the night before in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood as Robert Greene, 28, of the 2000 block of North Lambert Street in North Philadelphia. He was shot about 7 p.m. Monday on North 32nd Street near Cecil B. Moore Avenue.

Police found Greene lying on the sidewalk, bleeding profusely from his face and head. Medics transported him to Temple, where he died about an hour later.

No arrests have been reported in the slayings, which remain under investigation.
