Unrelated shootings claim two lives in North Philadelphia

Two men were killed overnight during unrelated shootings on the 3100 block of Hartville Street in Kensington and on the 1600 block of West Cayuga Street in Nicetown.

Two men were killed overnight during unrelated shootings in the Kensington and Nicetown sections of North Philadelphia.

Officers responded shortly before 9:45 p.m. Friday to the 3100 block of Hartville Street for a report of a person shot.

They found an unidentified Hispanic man lying unconscious in the street. He had been shot multiple times in his face and body, police said.

The man was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he died around 10 p.m. He remained unidentified Saturday afternoon.

Shortly after 3 a.m., officers found a 22-year-old man lying in the 1600 block of West Cayuga Street. He had been shot multiple times.

Medics took the man to Temple University Hospital, where he died about a half-hour later. His identity was not immediately released.

There wasn't word on a suspect or motive in either slaying Saturday afternoon.
