Teen one of two shot in Feltonville

An argument escalated into gunfire at a playground in Feltonville tonight, and a 15-year-old boy caught a bullet in the chaos, police said.

Just before 8:30 p.m., police were called to the Feltonville Rec Center, on Ella Street near Wyoming Avenue, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

There, among a crowd of about 100 people, they found a 15-year-old boy who had been shot in his right thigh. He was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, where he's currently listed in stable condition, Small said.

While investigators were at the scene, they were notified by staff at Temple University Hospital that a 24-year-old man had just been admitted to the emergency room with a gunshot wound to his right hip. He told doctors that he was also struck by the playground gunman, and is also in stable condition tonight, Small said.

Witnesses told investigators that a male wearing a grey Nike sweatshirt fired the shots and fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. It's not clear, Small said, if the two victims were targeted by the gunman or are innocent victims caught in the crossfire.

The investigation is ongoing.
