Police: N.J. man hid loaded handgun in anal cavity

Darquan Lee, 21, of Bridgeton, N.J. allegedly hid a loaded handgun between his "butt cheeks" after he was arrested for a contempt of court warrant, according to police.

A Bridgeton, N.J. man is facing additional charges after jail personnel found a loaded handgun inside his anal cavity during a post-arrest strip search, according to authorities.

Darquan Lee, 21, was on Friday arrested on a contempt of court warrant, searched and brought to the Bridgeton police station, according to a news release issued by police.

While there, Lee asked to use the bathroom, but refused when advised he would again be searched before and after doing so, investigators said.

Police, believing Lee was hiding contraband, transported him to the Cumberland County Jail.

There, personnel conducted a strip search and recovered a loaded .25-caliber handgun "shoved in his anal cavity located in between his 'butt cheeks,'" police said in the release.

The gun was reported stolen from Alabama, according to investigators.

In addition to the contempt offense, Lee, of Pamphylia Avenue, was processed on charges of weapons possession, unlawful weapons possession, certain persons not to have weapons, and receiving stolen property.

He was held without bail in the county jail, where he remained imprisoned Sunday.

Lee has several past arrests and was most recently sentenced to six months' jail time after pleading guilty to obstruction in August 2013, court records state.

The same month, he was taken into custody for allegedly robbing a deli at gunpoint. It wasn't clear Sunday if or how that case was resolved.
