N.J. man found dead, son charged

James Sopuch Jr., of Galloway Township, was charged in connection with the death of his father, James Sopuch, who died of blunt force trauma inside the Trotters Lane home the man shared.

A 29-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of his father, whose body was found Saturday night inside the Galloway Township, N.J. home the two men shared.

Authorities responded shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday to the home on the unit block of Trotters Lane, according to a news release from the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

Inside, they found the body of 60-year-old James Sopuch. An autopsy determined he died from blunt force trauma to the head, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to investigators.

Sopuch's son, 29-year-old James Sopuch Jr., was charged Sunday with aggravated assault in connection with his father's death. He was imprisoned in the Atlantic County Jail on $100,000 full cash bail.

Officials with the Prosecutor's Office's Major Crimes Unit and the Galloway Township Police Department were continuing to investigate.
