Husband, wife charged with robbing Wilmington gas station
A married couple has been charged with robbing a gas station April 30 in Wilmington, Del.
The incident happened shortly before midnight at a Valero on the 1300 block of McKennans Church Road, police said. A 23-year-old gas station clerk was outside cleaning the parking lot when Matthew Drupieski, 29, allegedly entered the store wearing a mask and carrying a large knife.
Police said Drupieski hid in the business while his wife, Randi Drupieski, 29, lured the clerk back inside, claiming she needed to buy cigarettes.
The clerk and Randi Drupieski entered the store together, according to investigators. But, before she completed her purchase, she allegedly went out to her car, saying she needed to get money.
Police said Matthew Drupieski then emerged from hiding and demanded money while brandishing the knife. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to investigators.
Delaware state troopers arrested Randi Drupieski May 13. She was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree conspiracy and was released after posting $21,000 secured bail.
Matthew Drupieski surrendered to detectives on Friday, investigators said. He was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree conspiracy, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person. Matthew Drupieski was released after posting $57,000 secured bail, police said.
No injuries were reported in connection with the robbery.
