Fire reported at home owned by city councilwoman

Fire crews battled a blaze this morning at a home owned by Philadelphia City Councilwoman Maria Quinones-Sanchez.

Firefighters were called to the three-story rowhome at 2038 N. Hancock St. at about 5:30 a.m., according to emergency radio reports. Property records list the councilwoman as the owner of the residence.

Radio reports say crews arrived to smoke showing from the third floor.

The fire department said crews placed the blaze under control in 17 minutes. It wasn't immediately known how the fire started or how extensively the building was damaged.

No injuries were reported, fire officials said.

Quinones-Sanchez, who couldn't immediately be reached this morning, told Newsworks that she and her husband haven't been living at the home for several months, and the residence was vacant.
