Cops: Would-be robber shoots victim, accomplice in botched West Oak Lane stickup

An attempted robbery suspect was shot by his alleged accomplice Friday night during a botched stickup in the West Oak Lane section of Northwest Philadelphia, police said.

An attempted robbery suspect was shot by his alleged accomplice Friday night during a botched stickup in the West Oak Lane section of Northwest Philadelphia, police said.

Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident, during which one of the men they attempted to target was also shot, according to investigators.

Police said two men, aged 43 and 54, were walking on the 7100 block of North 19th Street around 10:45 p.m., when they were approached by the two suspects, who demanded they give up their money.

One of the suspects, later identified as 22-year-old Isiah Bebee, approached the 43-year-old man and started going through his pockets, according to investigators.

Police said the other suspect, 21-year-old Antoine Hardy, stood by, armed with a gun.

The victim fought back, pushing Bebee in front of him and into Hardy's path, police said. The 54-year-old man, who is being treated as a witness to the crime, attempted to run away but fell, police said.

Hardy allegedly opened fire, striking the victim in the right arm and shooting Bebee multiple times in the legs.

Police said both the victim and witness then ran away. Both men were later taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where the witness was treated for abrasions and the victim was admitted in stable condition, investigators said.

Officers responding to the scene found Bebee lying in the street and rushed him to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was taken into surgery. He was reported to be in critical but stable condition.

Bebee, of the 6900 block of Ogontz Avenue, was positively identified as one of the attempted robbery suspects, police said.

A short time later, investigators surveying the area stopped a 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo seen pulling out of a rear driveway on the 1800 block of Dallas Road.

Hardy, who was in the passenger seat, fit the description of the second suspect and was positively identified as the alleged shooter, police said.

Both Bebee and Hardy, of the 400 block of Devereaux Avenue, will be charged with attempted robbery, theft, aggravated assault and simple assault, police said.
