Cops ID suspect in coffee attack on Philly Dunkin' Donuts clerk

Police identified William Houser, 36, as the man who allegedly threw hot coffee on a Dunkin' Donuts clerk during a dispute over an expired coupon.

Police on Wednesday identified the man accused of last week throwing hot coffee on a Dunkin' Donuts clerk during a dispute over an expired coupon.

Investigators said William Houser, 36, of the 3400 block of North Carlisle Street in Tioga, is wanted for aggravated assault.

Houser shortly after 1 p.m. last Wednesday walked into the Dunkin' Donuts at 4701 N. Broad St. and bought a cup of coffee. He then tried to pay for his purchase with an expired coupon, touching off an argument with an employee, according to authorities. During the fight, Houser allegedly threw the hot coffee in the worker's face and ran away from the store.

Police released surveillance video of the crime, leading to the Houser's identification as the suspect. Investigators said he may also frequent the area of 4710 Old York Rd.

It's not the first time a caffeinated customer's rage has boiled over — 53-year-old David Timbers in 2012 pleaded guilty to aggravated assault for throwing hot coffee in the face of a West Philadelphia doughnut shop clerk after that crime was also caught on camera.
