Police said a man's badly-wounded body was found in the stairwell of a building on the 1600 block of Foulkrod Street in Frankford.

The victim, identified only as a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead shortly after 5 a.m. He had been shot in the head, according to investigators. There was not yet word on a motive Saturday afternoon, and no arrests had yet been made.

A 33-year-old man was shot once in the arm shortly before 12:30 a.m. Saturday as he stood on his front porch in Carroll Park, police said.

The victim told investigators he was smoking and standing in the doorway of his home, on the 1400 block of North 53rd Street, when two men approached and shot him for an unknown reason. He was hospitalized in stable condition.

A third man is also in stable condition after he was shot in Hunting Park. Police said the victim, 28, was shot in the left forearm around 5:30 a.m. on the 3900 block of North Darien Street.

Philadelphia has seen a year-over-year uptick in homicides during the first several months of 2014. Still, as of last Sunday, violent crime, overall, was down about 10 percent from the same time last year, according to police department data.
