10 shot in 5 hours in Philly; 2 dead, 3 critical, 5 stable

Ten people were shot, two fatally, in five hours from Saturday night to Sunday morning in Philadelphia and the assailant in each case remains on the run, according to police.

The bloodshed began at 10:38 p.m. in West Philadelphia and did not stop until 3:47 a.m. in Old City.

Around 12:11 a.m., a 29-year-old man was shot all over his body on the 3400 block of Braddock Street in Kensington, police said. He was pronounced dead at that scene at 12:22 a.m. His identity has not yet been released pending family notification.

At 1:49 a.m., a 38-year-old man was shot several times in the head at the BP Gas station at 6600 Essington Ave. in Southwest Philadelphia. He was pronounced dead at 2:07 a.m. Police are also withholding his name pending family notification.

Three people were critically wounded by gunfire overnight, starting with a 33-year-old man who was shot once in the face at 12:15 a.m. on the 5400 block of Spring Garden Street in the Powelton section of West Philadelphia. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he is battling for his life, police said.

At 12:47 a.m. a 20-year-old man who was shot in the jaw, back, and buttocks at Eighth and Spring Garden Streets in North Philadelphia managed to walk to Hahnemann University Hospital, where doctors listed him in critical condition, according to police.

Also listed in critical condition at Hahnemann is a 27-year-old man who was shot in the face on the 100 block of Callowhill Street in Old City at 3:47 a.m., police said.

Five of the violent night's victims were listed in stable condition, including a 23-year-old man who was shot in his calf at 10:38 p.m. on the 800 block of North 66th Street in West Philadelphia. He is recovering at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.

At 11:12 p.m. a 31-year-old man was shot once in the foot on the 6100 block of Callowhill Street in the Haddington section of West Philadelphia, police said. Two minutes later, a 23-year-old woman was shot once in her left arm and received a graze wound to her neck while in a car on the 7200 block of Mallard Place in the Eastwick section of Southwest Philadelphia. Both of those victims are also recovering from their wounds at Penn Presbyterian.

A 20-year-old man who was shot once in his left leg and received a graze wound to his head, walked into Penn Presbyterian, where he was in stable condition, according to police.

At 12:35 a.m., a 28-year-old man was dropped off at Temple University Hospital's Episcopal Campus with a gunshot wound to his left leg. He remains in stable condition.

Police reported no arrests in any of the cases.
