Philadelphia police Friday identified the two teenagers and a young adult killed when the car in which they were riding slammed into a tree in the Northeast shortly before midnight Wednesday.

Police said the 2007 Acura was traveling north on Sandmeyer Lane at a high rate of speed when it struck the tree.

The car split in two, ejecting Yvette Hernandez of the 700 block of Rhawn Street and Sabrina Rhoads of the 100 block of Newberry Street. Both were 17 and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Felip Hernandez, 20, of Medford, was trapped in the vehicle and also pronounced dead.

A 17-year-old youth was found in the street with severe head, femur, and pelvic injuries. He was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale Campus in critical condition. He was later transported by helicopter to the trauma unit at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he underwent surgery.

Police said the teen, who was not identified, remained in critical condition at Jefferson.

Approximately 4 a.m. Thursday, police were notified that a 20-year-old man whose clothes were covered with blood had been taken by private car to Einstein Medical Center. The man, whom police identified as the Acura's driver, remains at Einstein, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said that no arrests had been made and that the investigation was continuing.
