City vehicle kills man on Schuylkill Expressway

A city-owned vehicle hit and killed a man Saturday along the westbound lanes of the Schuylkill Expressway near Roosevelt Boulevard, Philadelphia police said.

The collision occurred just before 10 p.m., shutting down the highway and causing traffic to back up for several miles.

Investigators were not sure late Saturday whether the victim had been walking along the highway or had stepped out of a broken down car. Police did not disclose his identity.
