1 killed, 1 hurt in Hunting Park crash

One person was killed and another injured when a car slammed into a tree along Roosevelt Boulevard about 2 a.m. Saturday in the city's Hunting Park section.

Authorities said the driver of a Pontiac Bonneville was speeding in the northbound outer lane of the boulevard near Fifth Street when he lost control and crashed into a tree. Both victims were taken to Einstein Medical Center.

Details of their identities were not immediately available. Officials at the Accident Investigation Division said no names had been released pending notification of the dead victim's next of kin.
