Man critical after ATV crash in S. Jersey

A 24-year-old man was in critical condition after crashing his ATV into a tree Tuesday afternoon in Camden County, police said.

Stephen Smarrito, 24, was transported to Cooper University Hospital after his ATV struck a tree on Ridge Avenue in the Glendora section of Gloucester Township about 4:35 p.m. Police did not provide a precise location for the crash. Smarrito lives in the unit block of Ridge Avenue, police said.

The accident was being investigated by the Gloucester Township Police Department Serious Crash Investigation Team. No charges had been filed as of Tuesday night.
