1 dead, 1 hospitalized in Chester shootings

Chester police are investigating two early morning shooting incidents in which one 23-year-old man was killed and another was seriously injured.

Chester police are investigating two early morning shooting incidents in which one 23-year-old man was killed and another was seriously injured.

Shortly before 2:30 a.m., police responded to a shooting in the 300 block of Hayes Street, and then, minutes later, were called to the scene of reported gunshots in the 400 block of Yarnell Street, several blocks away.

In the second case, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. In the first, the wounded man, also 23, was reported in stable condition at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. The victims were not identified.

Police said they did not know yet whether the shootings were related.
