Not guilty in slaying of dominatrix’s husband

The defendant in a dominatrix deal gone wrong was found not guilty of homicide Monday afternoon, but still faces prison time on a gun charge.

Kalif V. Lewis, 27, of West Philadelphia, now faces 6-12 years in prison on weapons counts - he did't have a permit to carry the handgun he admittedly used to shoot victim Tyre West.

A jury found reasonable doubt in Assistant District Attorney Richard Sax's allegations that Lewis paid a dominatrix for sex, only to return shortly afterward to rob her at gunpoint. When West, the dominatrix's common-law husband, arrived to help, Lewis allegedly shot and killed him.

Taking the stand on Thursday, Lewis said that he noticed money missing from his wallet after sleeping with the dominatrix, Shanet Foust, 28.

Lewis said he returned to the Residence Inn near Philadelphia International Airport to demand his money back, but never planned to draw his gun.

Lewis said that Tyre shot at him first, and he fired one shot back in self-defense. Afraid he'd get in trouble, Lewis then fled the scene and tried to cover his tracks, he said.

Lewis' sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 27.
