Man questioned in deadly bar shooting

Homicide detectives are questioning a man in the shooting at Nicetown bar that left one man dead and 5 other people wounded during one of the bloodiest weekends in the city in recent times.

The break in the investigation of the bloodshed at the Genesis Bar came a day after police released a video of the man wanted in the shooting.

The gunman had been ejected from the bar at 12:45 a.m. Sunday for smoking and returned within 10 minutes with a gun, officials said.

The video shows the man walking into the bar firing and then running away, all within a matter of six seconds.

Killed was Carl Sharper, 43, a patron who did not know the gunman.

The bar shooting came on a weekend of bloodshed that left six other people dead and 27 others wounded.

Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey said it was one of the bloodiest weekends - if not the worst - in his 3 1/2 years in Philadelphia.
