Knife fight leaves 1 dead, 1 charged with murder

A man who remained at the scene of a knife fight in North Philadelphia until police arrived has been charged with murder after his opponent died from his wounds, police said today.

A man who remained at the scene of a knife fight in North Philadelphia until police arrived has been charged with murder after his opponent died from his wounds, police said today.

Police said David B. Moore, 40, and Martone Brown, 29, got into the fight about 9:30 a.m. Monday at North 19th and West Jefferson Streets.

Brown, who was stabbed in the chest, made his way to St. Joseph's Hospital but died at 11:58 a.m., police said.

Moore, who was at the fight scene when police arrived Monday, was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder.

Both men lived in the neighborhood: Moore on the 1700 block of West Masters Street; Brown on the 1500 block of North Gratz Street, around the corner from the fight scene.

Police did not disclose the nature of their alleged dispute.
