At least three other people were displaced by the blaze at Transition to Independent Living at 4536 Spruce Street, a Fire Department spokesman said.

The conditions of the two people taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania were not immediately known, but medics reported the man's vital signs were unstable when they took him there.
