William Colarulo, a chief inspector with the Philadelphia Police Department, is expected to become the new Radnor Township chief of police, according to township officials.

A vote by the Township Council was set for Monday night, and Colarulo is the sole candidate before the board, said Robert Zienkowski, township manager.

Colarulo has held numerous positions in the Philadelphia department, including in internal affairs, in special investigations, as a department spokesman, and overseeing the Police Academy.

More than 70 candidates were interviewed for the position, including applicants from Ohio and New Jersey, Zienkowski said. The salary is $150,000, with four weeks of vacation and benefits. Colarulo is expected to start Feb. 28. When reached by phone, he said he was looking forward to the change and opportunity to work in Radnor.   - Mari A. Schaefer
