A.C. officer killed in Florida crash

ATLANTIC CITY - An Atlantic City police officer was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Tampa, Fla., early Monday.

Michael Wamsher, an 11-year veteran of the department, was traveling south on I-275 at 2:40 a.m. when he lost control of a 2011 Nissan, and the car swerved onto a grassy embankment and overturned, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Passenger Jason Pittaro, 32, of Brigantine, received what authorities described as minor injuries.

Wamsher, 34, lived in Egg Harbor Township, according to Atlantic City Deputy Police Chief Ernest Jubilee.   - AP
