Amtrak, SEPTA service restored

Amtrak and SEPTA regional lines between Philadelphia and Trenton were suspended for several hours Monday evening due to a trespasser who got stuck 40 feet up an electrical tower, authorities said.

Amtrak and SEPTA regional lines between Philadelphia and Trenton were suspended for several hours Monday evening due to a trespasser who got stuck 40 feet up an electrical tower, authorities said.

Shortly before 8 p.m., fire officials reported that the man had been removed from the tower in North Philadelphia and transported by a medic unit to Temple University Hospital with electrical burns.

The incident was first reported at 5:45 p.m. in the area of Glenwood Avenue and Tusculum Street, fire officials said. Power had to be cut to the train tracks so firefighters could safely rescue the man.

Service resumed around 8:15 p.m., said Amtrak spokesman Cliff Cole. SEPTA spokeswoman Jerri Williams said the Trenton and Chestnut Hill regional lines had been temporarily suspended.
