Man arrested in 2 fatal stabbings

Authorities have charged a man with committing two fatal stabbings in his Logan neighborhood, including the death of a woman working at her family's coin laundry business earlier this month.

The police forensic unit worked through the weekend to link blood found on suspect Siegfried Moore's shoe to both victims - 19-year-old Devaughn Smith and 53-year-old Huan Mo. Both victims were robbed as well.

Moore, 51, faces murder, robbery and other charges. He is being treated at Albert Einstein Medical Center for a stab wound and a punctured lung, injuries detectives believe he suffered in a violent struggle with Smith.

Smith was killed and robbed in the vestibule of an apartment building in the 4800 block of North Camac Street on Aug. 4.

Mo, who lived in South Philadelphia, was killed in the office of her family's laundry, in the 4700 block of North 15th Street, on Aug. 11.

Moore lived on that block with an elderly woman, who is not a relative. He knew both victims and frequented the coin laundry, said Capt. James Clark, commander of the Homicide Unit.

After Smith was killed, witnesses described a large man - at least 6-foot-6 and with a heavy build - leaving the scene.

Detectives later learned that Moore fit that description and had been to the hospital several times this month seeking treatment for injuries.

A search warrant at his home turned up bloody clothes, a bloody knife and cash.

"He's like a 6-foot-6, 300 pound predator that we're very happy to get off the streets," Clark said.
