A Delaware County woman has contacted police to say she was the driver who hit and injured a 6-year-old Chester County boy and took him home before driving off.

The 23-year-old woman, who has not yet been identified or charged, called Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Monday evening after police issued a wanted poster.

The poster was distributed to residents of the Rose Hill Apartments, where the boy was hit Friday evening, and one of them called the driver, police said.

The injured boy is resting at home after undergoing treatment at the Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington.

The accident remains under investigation by police and the Chester County District Attorney's Office.
