Girl hurt after gunfire erupts on trolley

Passengers fleeing from gunfire on a SEPTA trolley Sunday night in Southwest Philadelphia sent a 3-year-old girl to the hospital, authorities said.

Shots crackled shortly after 8:30 p.m. after an altercation erupted between two men on the number 13 trolley at 57th Street and Chester Ave. One of the men was treated at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for a bullet wound to the groin. The other man fled. Police had made no arrests Sunday night at 11 p.m. The girl, who was jostled by riders, was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where she was reported to be in good condition, police said.    Sam Wood
