Corbett’s mea culpa for jobless comment

GOP gubernatorial candidate Tom Corbett acknowledged today he goofed in saying jobless people do not want to return to work while they are still able to collect unemployment.

GOP gubernatorial candidate Tom Corbett acknowledged today he goofed in saying jobless people do not want to return to work while they are still able to collect unemployment.

In an interview on CBS3, Corbett said, "I regret that in that one statement, I may not have been clear or complete as I possibly could."

He said he was repeating a story he heard from "five, six, seven different people across the state of Pennsylvania that they weren't able to get workers."

"So there are some jobs out there," Corbett said. "I didn't say there are jobs out there for everybody there. I didn't say it well."

"The problem is we need to find the jobs for the people and when the jobs are available, we need to connect them to the people."

He said he is running to create jobs by reducing government spending and cutting taxes in the state.

Corbett said he wanted to apologize to anyone who viewed him as insensitive because of his poor choice of words.
