BENNINGTON, Vt. - A New Jersey truck driver involved in a Route 9 accident that led to the death of three people as pleaded guilty to a felony charge of grossly negligent operation resulting in death.

Attorneys say they will ask a Vermont District Court judge to sentence 42-year-old Kenneth A. Middlebusher of Deptford, N.J., to one to 10 years in prison.

The Rutland Herald says prosecutors will ask for jail time, while defense attorneys will ask for a suspended sentence.

Police say that on April 16, 2008, Middlebusher was driving a tractor-trailer on Route 9 in Woodford that overturned on a sharp, downhill curve.

The truck hit two cars in the opposite lane.

Two men were killed. A third died five months later of injuries suffered in the crash.
