Pennsylvania State Police have identified a man killed last night in a crash on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Milford Township, Bucks County.

Jeremy Welty, 37, of Walnutport, was killed in the crash involving three tractor-trailers and two cars on the turnpike. The crash occurred shortly after 8 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the roadway, state police said.

Police reported that the driver of a 2005 Acura lost control of his car, hit the center barrier and traveled across the roadway, where he struck the side guardrail. As Welty and the drivers of the three tractor-trailers tried to avoid the Acura and each other, their vehicles collided. Welty and one of the truck drivers were forced from the roadway, according to state police.

The other drivers were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries.

The accident closed the southbound lanes of the Northeast Extension at the Quakertown exit.
