19-year-old dies nearly a month after being shot

Nearly four weeks after being shot, a 19-year-old male from South Philadelphia has died from his wounds, police said.

On June 17, a Sunday, Lawrence Rose was shot in the abdomen in the 1800 block of South Seventh Street, Officer Beth DiDonato said this morning.

He was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he died shortly after 4:30 yesterday afternoon.

He lived on South Sixth Street, a block from the site of the shooting.

Still in critical condition at Jefferson is a second man found wounded at the same scene, DiDonato said. He had been shot in the hip and leg.

Rose's death raised the city's homicide for the year to 214, DiDonato said.
