Where's the relief? Brutal heat on way

So much for the relief that weather forecasters were predicting earlier in the week.

It never materialized.  And the National Weather Service in Mount Holly says we're about to begin another six or seven day heat wave, marked by high humidity.

Temperatures today should reach about 92, with heat index values reaching to about 100.

It will likely get worse as a high pressure system over the Atlantic Ocean moves in and parks itself over the air. The weather service has issued an excessive heat warning from noon Monday through 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Heat index values are forecast to remain at around 100 degrees Monday through Wednesday because of the high humidity.

The heat wave is expected to continue through Friday, and possibly into Saturday.

The excessive heat warning means that the combination of heat and humidity will create potentially dangerous situations for some.

The forecast calls for highs of 95 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
