Tip line set up for info on State Police cheating scandal

A confidential tip line has been set up to solicit information about a cheating scandal at the Pennsylvania State Police academy.

The state Office of Inspector General said Friday that anyone with information about the ongoing probe should call the tip line at 1-844-307-9997. Tipsters can also submit information online at oig.pa.gov.

State Police Commissioner Tyree C. Blocker had called for an outside investigation into the cheating scandal, which in February led to the resignations of 29 cadets from the academy.

"I remain committed to ensuring a full and comprehensive investigation that is in the best interest of both the State Police and the people of Pennsylvania," Blocker said in a statement Friday. "I want to leave no stone unturned, so I encourage anyone with information to contact the Inspector General without hesitation."

The probe centers on whether members of the cadet class that graduated last month when 48 new troopers were sworn in received information about exam questions from members of a previous class.
