Man struck by SEPTA train in Center City

A man was hospitalized after being struck by a SEPTA train in Center City this morning.

SEPTA said the man was hit by a Broad Street Line train near the Walnut-Locust Station at about 11:25 a.m.

It wasn't immediately known how or why he got into the track area.

The transit agency said the man, whose age and identity were not available, was trapped under the train and retrieved by rescue crews.

The man was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. His condition wasn't known, but SEPTA said he was alive when he was pulled from the tracks.

SEPTA was warning southbound Broad Street Line riders to expect delays of up to 20 minutes.
