Police: Man held woman hostage in Germantown barricade

A man was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly taking a woman hostage and barricading himself and the victim inside a Germantown apartment.

Officers were called to the residence on the 100 block of West Queen Lane around 6:50 p.m. after receiving a report that a 40-year-old man had shut himself and a 27-year-old woman inside.

Investigators declared the situation a barricade and set up a staging area at Queen Lane and Green Street.

When officers were able to enter the apartment, they found the woman tied up in a bathroom and suffering from sexual assault-related injuries, police said.

She was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center. Her condition was not released.

The suspect, who was not immediately identified, was arrested without incident shortly before 7 p.m., police said. No weapon was recovered.

SWAT units remained at the home Wednesday night as authorities cleared the scene.
