Parveen: 10-plus inches expected now in Philly this weekend

Late snow showers will move in Wednesday night with a small clipper system, mainly from 8 p.m. to midnight. Some areas could see a dusting to half an inch.

The sun returns Thursday to the Philadelphia region, but it will remain cold, with a high temperature around 37 degrees: A nice respite before the coming storm.

Snow will approach sometime late afternoon or evening on Friday. It will emerge in our area first in Delaware and New Jersey before working its way up the I-95 corridor.

The snow will be at its height from before sunrise Saturday and through noon. That is when we should see the most precipitation. It will last through Saturday afternoon and taper off Saturday night.

Some snow showers could last into Sunday morning before we clear out. Watch for ice Sunday night and early Monday.

Watch for flooding along the Shore.

Snow total estimates

Currently, it looks like 10-plus inches for Philadelphia for the entire storm that includes overnight Friday to Saturday night. These number will be adjusted Thursday and Friday. Elsewhere:

- 6-8-plus inches for much of New Jersey.

- 8-plus inches in the Lehigh Valley (which could be near the edge of the storm)

- 5-plus inches for the Poconos (near the edge as of now)

- Highest amounts in Northern Delaware and Chester County with 14-plus.

Wind and tide

It will also be windy as the snow is falling. Wet snow and dry snow are both expected throughout the storm. Residents and businesses could see power outages, very low visibility possibly causing whiteout conditions for a time in some spots, and coastal flooding with a coinciding full moon, high tide, and an onshore wind.
