Pa. ticket wins $2M as Powerball, Mega Millions jackpots climb
A ticket sold in Pennsylvania won $2 million in the most recent Powerball drawing as the jackpots in the two major multi-state games climbed again.
The lucky Pennsylvania ticket matched all five white balls drawn Saturday: 5, 6, 15, 29 and 42. But it lacked the Powerball of 10, missing out on the $334 million jackpot.
No one won the top prize, so the jackpot for Wednesday's drawing is now up to $400 million for the annuity, or $244.8 million for the cash option. That would be the sixth-largest prize in the game's history.
The Pennsylvania winner, which was purchased with the power play option that boosted its value to $2 million, was sold at the Country Fair located at 1810 Sassafras St. in Erie. The retailer gets a $10,000 bonus.
Tickets sold in California, Connecticut and South Carolina all won $1 million each.
Powerball's jackpot has been on the rise since a Tennessee ticket won $144.1 million in the Nov. 4 drawing. The prize is now at its highest point in nearly a year, when three tickets split a $564.1 million jackpot on Feb. 11.
The Mega Millions jackpot is also climbing and now stands at $145 million, or $88 million cash, for Tuesday's drawing.
