Overnight shootings leave man, teen critically injured in North Philadelphia

A man and teen were critically injured overnight during a pair of unrelated shootings in North Philadelphia.

Officers found the first victim, a 49-year-old man, on the 1600 block of West York Street shortly before 7:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.

He had been shot eight times in his back, stomach, groin and leg, according to investigators.

The man was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he was immediately taken into surgery and listed in critical condition.

The suspect is described only as an unknown black male who was wearing a mask that covered his face.

Around 1:15 a.m. Sunday, police and Philadelphia Housing Authority officers responded to a report of a person with a gun on the 2800 block of Cecil B. Moore Avenue, according to investigators.

Housing authority officers found a 19-year-old victim on the 2500 block of West Turner Street, suffering from a single gunshot wound to his shoulder, police said.

He was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he was also placed in critical condition.

A third unrelated shooting occurred Sunday afternoon inside a home on the 1900 block of East Monmouth Street in Kensington.

Police said a 38-year-old man was shot once in his right calf shortly after 12:30 p.m. and taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition.

About a half-hour later, a man was shot in his leg during an attempted robbery on the 3000 block of North Eighth Street in Fairhill, police said.

The 55-year-old was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was also placed in stable condition.

The four shooting victims' identities were not released Sunday afternoon, and police reported no arrest.
